He was also the Founder of Arab Financial Services (E.C.), Bahrain in 1982 as well as the Founder and Chairman of Libyan Arab Foreign Bank during 1972-1980, where he also established branches of the Bank worldwide. He was voted as one of the Most Innovative Bankers by the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (recognised by George Town University in 1980). He also received the award for Best Banker from the Association of Arab American Banks in New York in 1991. In recognition of his role in the development of banking relationships between Arab and European states, he has received several gold medals and awards. Noted amongst these are the awards he received from the King of Spain and the President of Italy in1977 and the President of Tunis in 1996.
