Al Baraka Participates in World Islamic Finance Summit
Al Baraka Bank Pakistan Limited (ABPL) participated in World Islamic Finance Summit organized by Publicitas Pvt. Limited. ABPL sponsored the event as Co-Lead sponsor, showing its commitment for growth, promotion and innovation of Islamic Banking & Finance. Al Baraka through its participation contributed towards the efforts being made in promoting the Islamic finance industry in Pakistan.
Two day conference was held at Marriot Karachi, on 21 – 22 September 2011. The main objective of the conference was to identify and catalyze the growth pace in Pakistan’s Islamic financial sector by involving the entire industry players. Furthermore, the conference aimed to provide a forum for the government and the private sector organizations to promote the opportunities for investment in Islamic financial instruments and gain greater understanding of the challenges faced by both sectors. In addition, the summit intended to lighten Pakistan amidst political disturbance by improving country’s perception in the global arena.
All areas of Islamic banking, shahraih compliance, product development, mutual funds, role of technology, Islamic retail banking, treasury management and corporate finance were well covered during the conference. Policymakers, businessmen, financers, and key players in the Islamic finance industry from both domestic and international arena were present at the summit to highlight different challenges and opportunities faced by the Islamic finance. Experts and professionals from the industry shared their experiences and ideas for Islamic Finance.
Shafqat Ahmed, CEO Al Baraka Bank inaugurated the event along with other Heads of institutions and CEOs. He also participated in CEO Power table to discuss Growth, Opportunities, Challenges and Perspectives of Islamic finance.
Other Executives from the bank were also present at the event and were part of different sessions held during two days of conference. Justice Khalil ur Rehman exchanged his expert views on Shahriah Dialogues, Mr. Abduallah Ghaffar, Regional Manager on Islamic Finance and Trade & Business and Mr. Khawaja Maaz Khairuddin, Head Corporate Banking on Mutual Funds.
At the end of the summit, it was mutually decided that such joint efforts should be made a yearly event. This would not only benefit local Islamic finance industry but also contribute towards subsequent betterment of the whole humanity by providing them ample opportunities for investment and business under Islamic modes of finance.
