We are constantly striving to introduce new and innovative features & services in the digital landscape to create unique customer experience while ensuring utmost security. As a step towards enhancing our customer experience, you will now be able to conduct e-commerce transactions (i.e. online – Internet based txns) through your Al Baraka Debit Mastercard.
To protect our cardholders from unauthorized use of their cards on the internet, we have added two separate layers of security. Details given below:
• e-commerce enablement:
Al Baraka cards are disabled for e-commerce transactions by default, however, we have built a functionality that will allow our customers to call our Phone Banking to activate (or deactivate) ‘e-commerce Transactions’ on their Debit Cards. Therefore, customers will first have to call our Phone Banking from their registered number and have the e-commerce service activated on their card before using the card online. Customers will always have the option to de-activate the facility by calling Phone Banking.
• Mastercard 3D Secure:
Mastercard 3D Secure provides card holder with an additional layer of online security by sending a One Time unique PIN (OTP) on the registered mobile number; thus protecting cardholders against unauthorized use of their card while shopping at 3D Secure enabled retailers online.
Therefore, Al Baraka Debit Mastercard holders will receive a one-time PIN on their Mobile Phones after they enter their card details for online shopping. However, this service is only applicable on online merchants that are ‘SecureCode’ enabled and therefore in some cases, there will be no requirement to enter the OTP to execute the transaction. The transaction on such web-sites will still be secure (please check the ‘https’ in the address bar), even if the said website has not implemented 3D Secure at their end.
How does 3D Secure work?
Step 1: While checking out from any Online Shop, you will be directed to enter your card details.
Step 2: Enter your Al Baraka Mastercard card details during the checkout process.
Step 3: If the Online Merchant is 3D Secure,
A separate window will appear informing you about Mastercard SecureCode protection on Al Baraka Debit Cards.
Step 4: You will be asked to enter a One-Time Password (OTP), which you will be receiving on your registered Cell Number.
Step 5: Enter the 6-digit OTP, select the check-box “Agree to Terms and Conditions” and click “Submit”
Step 6: Upon submission, the system will verify your card details and authenticate the OTP, to process your transaction.
